Stevedoring-Services-Limited-Bermuda-Sept-2019

Part of the Hamilton waterfront at the very eastern end of the City is the site of the island’s only container port.  The container port is owned by the Corporation and provides a good source of revenue for the City.  While the loading and unloading of containers and other cargo vessels is contracted out to a private stevedoring company, the actual management of the docks is the responsibility of the Corporation of Hamilton.  In addition to the container port, there are two cruise ship berths right along Front Street, which are occupied by regular callers during the week between April and October, and on weekends by occasional callers, i.e. cruise ships which visit Bermuda periodically during trans-Atlantic cruises. The regular comings and goings of the cruise ships along Front Street creates a festive and busy ambience throughout the summer season.
