The City of Hamilton's Commitment to Public Art
In 2015, the City of Hamilton launched its annual public art initiative. The public were invited to submit proposals for art installations around the City and over the past five years, eighteen extraordinary works of art have brightened the streets and sidewalks of Hamilton. Some have starred in campaign ads, many invite an interactive exerience for the memorable vacation photo but all of them have illuminated a once dull area and all are reminiscent of the City's support of the artists among us.
The City's initiative continues in 2020. An RFP was issued on Friday, January 31st and submissions closed on March 2nd. A press release announcing the 2020 atrwork and artists will be forthcoming.
