Hamilton – November 24th, 2020

The public is reminded that this Friday at City Hall is the official kick-off to the festive season in Hamilton as the City tree takes a starring role assisted by Santa who is making a special appearance before his long trip around the globe.

The City had to pivot away from its annual tree lighting event and adopt a different format for the evening as per COVID restrictions.

The City invites the public to stop by City Hall from 7:00pm till 9:00pm to join Santa for some free festive and socially distanced photo ops. Especially if you’re hitting the City shops for Black Friday bargains or taking in a meal at a favourite eatery. A professional photographer will be on hand to take the portraits which families can take away with them as a special holiday keepsake.

Hot chocolate from Brew will be available for purchase and the first 75 in line will receive a free cup of cocoa as well as a Santa hat.

Earlier today, November 24th, student, (Kingsley Ming) from Tomorrow’s Voices - Bermuda Autism Early Intervention Centre - was invited to place a symbolic final ornament on the City tree.

Tomorrow’s Voices has partnered with the City for many years at the annual Tree of Lights event. Designed to meet the needs of those diagnosed with autism and on the autism spectrum, the contribution to the Bermuda community that Tomorrow’s Voices has made since its inception in 2007 has been invaluable as they help parents and

guardians subsidize the therapeutic costs associated with their child’s developmental needs. Donations to Tomorrow’s Voices will be graciously accepted at the City tree.

The public is reminded that social distancing, mask-wearing and safety measures will be in place.
