City Announces its 2021 Christmas Window Decorating Contest

Calling all City of Hamilton businesses! Now is the time to order those Christmas lights, get creative and plan to make Christmas 2021 in Hamilton a magical spectacle for our island’s residents.

The City of Hamilton is inviting all City businesses to enter our 2021 Christmas Window Decorating Contest, with awesome prizes awarded to the winners.

“We wanted to do something that would end the year on a high note and leave everyone feeling festive for the season and hopeful for what 2022 will bring,” said the City’s Marketing Coordinator Sideya Dill. “2021 has been a bit of a rough year for many of us due to the pandemic, so we really hope that City businesses take part in this contest to add some much-needed Christmas cheer around the streets of Hamilton and to entice shoppers into their stores.

“The window size doesn’t matter; the most beautiful display may be in the smallest of windows. You just have to be located within City limits to be eligible for entry into the contest.”

Ms Dill added: “Given that Christmas is the season of giving, we wanted to add an element to the contest that would benefit our local charities. In this spirit, we will be providing funds on behalf of the winner to a charity of their choice.”

There are two categories -

• Best Christmas Window 2021 (selected by a panel of industry-relevant judges)
• People’s Choice (selected by the general public through a City-hosted voting process)

Each participating business can only enter one window into the contest and must display the window decorating participation notice issued by the City of Hamilton in their window before the opening of voting.

The prizes are as follows:

Best Christmas Window 2021

• $1,000 BELCO Gift Certificate
• $1,000 donation to the charity of the winner’s choice
• A Social Media Feature
• A Dedicated Media Release from the City
• Production of a 60-Second Video Business Spotlight (to be played online and primetime on Bermuda Broadcasting)

People’s Choice

• $500 Masters Gift Certificate
• $500 donation to the charity of the winner’s choice
• A Social Media Feature
• A Dedicated Media Release from the City

The window decorating must be completed by Monday, November 29 at 5:00 pm and must remain in place at least until Friday, December 17, 2021.

All participating windows will be professionally photographed for judging and public voting on Tuesday, November 30. Voting and judging will take place between Wednesday, December 1 – Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

The winners will be announced on Friday, December 17, 2021.
