City Announces Christmas Window Decorating Contest Winners

Hamilton – December 17th, 2021

The City of Hamilton today announced the winners of the City’s 2021 Christmas Window Decorating Contest.

13 City businesses entered the festive competition this year, which had two judging categories:

• Best Christmas Window 2021 (selected by a panel of industry-relevant judges)
• People’s Choice (selected by the general public through a City-hosted voting process)

The winner for BOTH categories was DEMCO Florist. Demco provides flower creations, planning services and party supplies to ‘make every event special and every day a special occasion’.

More than 1,000 members of the public cast their vote for the People’s Choice category. While DEMCO was the overall winner, 1609 was close behind as 1^st Runner Up and Mr. Chicken was 2^nd Runner Up.

“We want to extend a huge congratulations to DEMCO Florist for being our overall winners,” said Mayor Gosling at a prize-giving event today. “It was an exciting contest this year with some high-quality entries and we want to thank those businesses for answering the City’s call to help create a magical holiday spectacle for our island’s residents.”

This year’s judging panel was: Nijah Dyer, DeAzha Chambers, DJ Rusty G, Gabrielle Boyer and Nzingha Ming.

The prizes for each award are listed below:

Best Christmas Window 2021

• $1,000 BELCO Gift Certificate
• $1,000 donation to the charity of the winner’s choice
• A Social Media Feature
• A Dedicated Media Release from the City
• Production of a 60-Second Video Business Spotlight (to be played online and primetime on Bermuda Broadcasting)

People’s Choice

• $500 Masters Gift Certificate
• $500 donation to the charity of the winner’s choice
• A Social Media Feature
• A Dedicated Media Release from the City
