                                                                                   Voting Now Open for City’s 2022 Christmas Window Decorating Contest

The City of Hamilton today declared public voting OPEN for the 2022 City Christmas Window Decorating Contest!

24 City businesses entered the festive competition this year, which sees awesome prizes awarded to winners for the best Christmas window displays, including a donation from the City to a charity of the winner’s choice.

“We are absolutely thrilled about the number of entries this year and want to thank those businesses for answering the City’s call to help create a magical holiday spectacle for our island’s residents and entice shoppers into their stores,” said the City’s Marketing Coordinator Sideya Dill. “The aim of this contest is to provide exposure to the City’s retailers on their product offering and services for the holiday season. We also hope to encourage businesses to add to the festive atmosphere of the City in the lead up to the holidays.”

There are two judging categories -

• Best Christmas Window 2022 (selected by a panel of industry-relevant judges)
• People’s Choice (selected by the general public through a City-hosted voting process)

To cast your vote for the People’s Choice Award, either scan the barcode displayed in any participating store window or visit the City’s website to cast your vote online with just one click.

Voting opened today and will close on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 5pm.

The City is also delighted to reveal this year’s judging panel:

• Jasmine Lee is the Museum and Gallery Operations Officer at Masterworks responsible for collaborating with artists and curating exhibitions.
• Avarie Graham is the Lead Graphic Designer for award-winning design specialists Strata-G. She was awarded Best Graphic Designer by The Bermudian magazine in 2020.
• Selange Gitchner is the Head Designer and President of Dasfete, a creative event company located in Bermuda that has accumulated more than ten Best of Bermuda awards and boasts an impressive line-up of clients including Microsoft, Louis Vuitton and Conde Nasts, amongst others.
• Councillor John Harvey MBE, JP is a sitting member, since 2008, of the City Council and also the Deputy Mayor. He is a proud patron of the arts in Bermuda.
• Celebrity Judge Fotogenik, aka Shawn Simmons, is a man of many talents. Singer, comedian, fashion designer, photographer – he lends his voice to a series of Bermuda viral videos and captures on camera the antics of Bermudians across the island.

The prizes for the City’s 2022 Christmas Window Decorating Contest are as follows:

Best Christmas Window 2022

• $1,000 BELCO Gift Certificate
• $1,000 donation to the charity of the winner’s choice
• A social media Feature
• A Dedicated Media Release from the City

People’s Choice

• $500 Masters Gift Certificate
• $500 donation to the charity of the winner’s choice
• A social media Feature
• A Dedicated Media Release from the City

The winners will be announced on Friday, December 16, 2022, via social media and press release.
