City Postpones Drive-In Movie Event Due to Increase in COVID-19 Cases

Hamilton – March 23rd, 2021

Due to the recent rise of COVID-19 infections in Bermuda, the City of Hamilton regrets to inform the public that Fresh Air Films: Drive-in Edition, sponsored by HSBC and scheduled for Easter weekend, has been postponed.

Senior Events and Marketing Coordinator, Allison Tucker, said of the news, “While we are disappointed, we have a duty of care to ensure that our events are safe in this current climate. Although a drive-in event would have had a heightened safety measure, we felt it was best to operate under an abundance of caution and postpone the event.

“We want to assure the public that this is a postponement as opposed to a cancellation and we’ll look to reschedule it as soon as restrictions are lifted and we are permitted to stage the event. A huge debt of thanks must be paid to all those vendors, sponsors and logistical teams that were due to participate in the event.”

Tanya Bule, Head of Wealth and Personal Banking & Marketing, shared, “Although the Bank is disappointed in the postponement of the event, we fully support the City of Hamilton in this decision and will continue to work with them, as they strive to provide fun and safe events for residents throughout 2021.”

Shoppers who were saving their receipts from Hamilton businesses for entry to the Drive-In are encouraged to hold on to them as they will be honoured when the event is rescheduled.
