Mayor Kicks Off Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Initiative

On Thursday, November 23rd , Mayor of Hamilton Charles Gosling and Town Crier Ed Christopher kicked-off the Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign on the steps of City Hall.

Thursday marked the first day of the campaign which raises money for Bermuda’s less fortunate.

The Salvation Army Kettle Campaign began in North America 1891 and is echoed here in Bermuda with the help of numerous volunteers out on the streets ringing their bells to inspire passersby to place donations of cash inside the trademark red kettles.

The Mayor wished them all the best in their fundraising efforts and encouraged the community to give what they can this holiday season.

“The holidays are a very special time for all of us to remember and do what we can for those less fortunate than ourselves,” said the Mayor. “To give is a gift, not only for those receiving.”

The Mayor applauded the local chapter of the Salvation Army for their continued efforts in our community and wished everyone the most festive of holiday seasons.
