City Announces Christmas Window Decorating Contest Winner

Hamilton – December 15th, 2023

The City of Hamilton today announced the winner of the City’s 2023 Christmas Window Decorating Contest.

27 City businesses entered the festive competition this year, which had two judging categories:

• Best Christmas Window 2023 (selected by a panel of industry-relevant judges)
• People’s Choice (selected by the general public through a City-hosted voting process)

The winner for both categories was Demco To Go!

Demco’s display provides a magical multisensory experience for viewers, featuring falling snow set against a stunning Hamilton Cityscape with captivating handmade designs and traditional Bermudian touches. The addition of street-side audio effects brings the roaring fireplace to life with a display that will transport you to a cozy Christmas spectacle.

More than 1,500 members of the public cast their vote for the People’s Choice category.

While Demco was the overall winner for People’s Choice, Dellwood Middle School wasn’t far behind as 1^st Runner Up and Nest was 2^nd Runner Up.

While Demco was the overall winner for Best Christmas Window 2023, 1609 was close behind as 1^st Runner Up and Escape Room Bermuda was 2^nd Runner Up.

“We want to extend a huge congratulations to Demco for being our overall winners,” said Mayor Charles Gosling at a prize-giving event today. “Demco is no stranger to these awards, having won in previous years. In fact, this is the second time in the past five years that they have won both categories concurrently, with a clean sweep!

“It was an exciting contest this year with some high-quality entries, and we want to thank those businesses for answering the City’s call to help create a magical holiday spectacle for our island’s residents. We invite members of the public to come and enjoy these eye-catching displays for themselves, which will be in place for the remainder of the Holiday season.”

This year’s judging panel was: Lorraine Shailer, Cyniqua Anderson, Melanie Fiander, Amanda Duncan and Nick Thomson.

• $1,000 BELCO Gift Certificate
• $1,000 Donation to the Charity of the Winner’s Choice
• A Social Media Feature
• A Dedicated Media Release from the City

People’s Choice

• $500 Masters Gift Certificate
• $500 Donation to the Charity of the Winner’s Choice
• A Social Media Feature
• A Dedicated Media Release from the City
